Small Hit Support
Many small businesses, voluntary organisations and social enterprises have small tasks that need doing as either a one-off or from time to time. What stops them from getting done can be a lack of time or expertise.
It is not always desirable to employ someone to do the work. Using Janet Brindley can be a more cost effective way of solving the problem.
Setting up a payroll system for one employee when you have never been an employer before, for instance. Knowing where to go for advice.
Learning how to use Excel to create a spreadsheet for a particular application, or even having a Powerpoint presentation to do, without knowing how to use Powerpoint, are two more examples of where small hit support can be useful. Either by showing you how to do it yourself, or doing it for you.
Internet based or library research.
Checking a report, website or advertisement for spelling, grammar and inconsistencies, an outside observer can sometimes spot things that may have been overlooked.
Perhaps setting up an email account or maintaining your website are other areas where help or training can be given.
Training in Microsoft Office, for example, can of course be given by colleges and other organisations, but the courses are not always at convenient times, and you may already know most of it.
